Major Transformation!

With the professional assistance and donations from Terracare, we saw the garden transform before our eyes!  They installed water timers and laid out feeder tubes that we could access all around the garden.  They also had several truckloads of gravel delivered for our pathways.  It’s finally looking like an official garden!

Filling the Farm

We received a generous amount of “organic compost” from Woodmill Recycling in Byron.  Terracare helped us finish framing the agriculture section with cinder blocks and filled it with the compost.

Rockin’ It!

We had a positive response to my postings on Craigslist and Freecycle, requesting and sort of rock for our garden. A woman named Carolyn who works in San Ramon said her company was looking to have all the rock removed from their parking lot.

So I put out the call and got 4 great helpers: Mr. McHugh, Martin, Darrel, and a former student: Dillon Turner (who has his own truck!). It was a long drive – about 50 minutes each way, but we had the truck loaded with 40 minutes, and it only took 10-15 minutes to unload when we got back. I may have paid $60 in gas, but the rock was probably worth $1,000!

FalconFest Sunset

We could claim this was our grand opening… our club offered mini-tours of the garden “under construction” during Freedom’s open house.
